Nesty Setup

Controlled tablet setup starts with a factory reset

Sign in on the parent phone, create the family, then add each child tablet from the first Android welcome screen after a reset. Nesty becomes the managed home and control layer for the tablet.

Android 14+ only. The supported launch path is wipe and install. We are working on a no-reset setup, but it is not the primary method yet.

Primary launch setup

Wipe the tablet, scan the Nesty QR, and let Nesty take over

Use the parent phone to own the family account, then use this page to create a fresh QR for each reset child tablet.

Sign in once, then add or refresh controlled tablets from the same family account.

Android may show a managed-device notice during setup. Keep going so Nesty can finish the handoff.

4

Factory reset the tablet

Start from a clean Android setup so Nesty can take over from the first welcome screen. If the tablet has already been through setup, the QR flow will fail.

5

Open the QR scanner

On some tablets you need to tap the first welcome screen 10 to 15 times quickly before the QR scanner appears.

6

Scan and finish setup

Scan the code, then follow the Android prompts until Nesty opens. If Android says something went wrong or asks for your IT admin, the tablet is not on the fresh welcome screen anymore. Reset it again, then rescan. If a model still fails after that, send the make and model so we can verify support before launch.

Launch Nesty on the parent phone first, then generate the child tablet QR here.

Support

If a tablet fails, send the make and model

If the QR build does not complete on a reset tablet, send the make and model. The supported launch method is still wipe and install while we work on a future no-reset option.
